Kiilopää
I have been photographing at the foot of Kiilopää, in the North of Finland. The sparse light and the blizzarding cold made photographing harder but more rewarding. It was the time of Kaamos, the eternal night. It was not a darkness, but a light that reveals everything in shades of sapphire, violet, and pearl. As I hiked deeper into the white expanse, the boundaries between the snowy earth and the velvet sky began to dissolve. To walk here is to witness the earth in its most honest state: quiet, cold, brutal, and profoundly peaceful.
